Why do women hang on the words of men who have a deeper voice than the rest of us guys? What is it about the deeper voice that signals to the world that the man behind it is an alpha male worthy of our attention?
There is no denying that even other males find the characteristic of a deeper voice appealing in other men. Going in the other direction, the more high-pitched the voice of a man, the more irritating we tend to find it. If you have been unfortunate enough to be cursed with a squeaky voice then you are going to have to learn to smile a lot, because verbal communication is going to work against, not for you.
In all likelihood, the primary reason the deeper voice is appealing to both men and women is that it signals "more male authority".
Women have higher voices, men lower. We are biologically programmed to distinguish between the two. But in either case, the higher the voice, the younger the person we imagine to be behind it if we are not immediately presented with a face to go along with that voice. So higher voices suggest youth, immaturity, and lack of status, which immediately undercuts them as a source of any kind of authority - which is something we all tend to gravitate towards.

Men enjoy most the company of other men from whom they imagine they have something worthwhile to learn. These alpha males are accorded instant respect by their campanions and followers who in turn are blessed with an immediate boost in self-worthiness simply due to the fact that they are able to command a degree of attention themselves from the alpha male.
Being the alpha pays off in so many ways that it makes alpha male emulation a widely practiced art by those who recognize the benefits they have yet to be accorded. If deepening your voice can help you inch ever closer to alpha male status, then it is likely something you will want to achieve as quickly as possible.
But can you really expect to go against your basic biology and CHANGE the way you sound to others. Well, yes, you can - within limits. We all know that we can artificially lower our voices temporarily to achieve a deepening of the voice. But that will most likely sound natural to neither you nor anyone listening to you. The problem here is basically the same as that of someone who picks up a violin for the first time and tries to create a harmonious note. It just isn't going to happen the first time. Nor anytime soon. What is going to be required is some practice and an appreciation of how your voice box can be intentionally manipulated at alter the sound that emanates from it.
You can begin experimenting by attempting to gain more control over your lower diaphragm when you project your voice. Singers like to refer to their head voice (high) and chest voice (low), and they tap into either one depending on the nature of the sound they need to make. There is of course a range of tones that stretch from the very deep sounds associated with the lower chest cavity, all the way up to the high-pitched sounds that emanate from the sinus cavities. When you learn to master your own deeper tones you are effectively doing the same thing as singers - you modulate your range.
You can even get instruction in the form of a product specifically designed to help you bring out your deeper voice.
Deeper Voice Right Away is a combination of voice training exercises and audio software for evaluating the changes in your voice as you advance through the course. The sales page is a little tacky, but this may be just the ticket for guys looking for a way to rid themselves of a debilitating high voice in as short a period as a week or two (Mike London, the Deeper Voice Right Away creator claims five days for results, but that is probably being overly optimistic).
If you consider some of the alternatives, such as simply learning to live with the problem (and resigning yourself to a practically non-existent social life), or resorting to surgery (with all the attendant risks that it involves), spending some time attempting to master the voice you have is by far the best strategy in my opinion. Just do not expect immediate results. Like all things in life, you have to work for those that you desire the most.
What you do not need to have in order to attract the ladies is a voice of the caliber of singer Barry White, or the movie voice-over specialist Don Lafontaine who is synonymous with all those television commercials that prepare us to go out and spend $10 to sit in a crowded movie theater and watch the next big blockbuster. You only need to have a voice that at least matches the timber of the other males that the girl of your dreams is likely to be interacting with. Once you are on an even keel in that department you can pick up one of the dating books for men that have been reviewed on this site, and take your skills to the next level.
For this, I recommend that you check out John Alexander's
How To Become An Alpha Male which gets my top rating for a men's dating book.

How To Become An Alpha Male
John Alexander, the author discussed in my How To Become An Alpha Male review, says that while most other dating books focus on WHAT to do to please the woman, the better approach is to concentrate instead on how to BECOME the man that women respond to.
