In the course of my research into a guide to style for men, I assembled a focus group consisting of 6 randomly chosen hot, single women aged between 21 and 33 years. My goal was to discover what styles in men they considered turned them on.

The exact aim was to identify those things that they all agreed on.

The results surprised me, because the strongest opinions the women put forward were about issues that most guys would never consider.

1. YOUR TEETH. The focus group agreed enthusiastically with one blonde bombshell who pointed out that bad teeth are "just gross".

Therefore, so as not to have your teeth immediately disqualify you, be sure to brush at least twice a day, and floss at least once. If your teeth are still noticeably bad - rotten, or badly stained - see your dentist immediately and correct your dental problems.

That said, try not to go crazy with the teeth whitener. "No one likes to kiss Chiclet Mouth," said the blonde.

2. YOUR HANDS. Women notice immediately if your hands are dirty or stained with grease.

"If you work with your hands," said one member of the group, "that should not the first thing a woman notices about you."

So for the auto mechanics, construction workers, and other blue collar types out there, pay attention to this.

"It's not what a man does," explained another woman. "It's about taking care of yourself. If you cannot even bother to wash your hands, what does this say about you?"

3. YOUR CLOTHES. If you wear jeans, leave the tennis shoes at home.

A part-time model in her mid-20s observed that, "I believe athletic gear is for exercise. But some boys only ever wear tennis shoes, and that's just annoying. It shows immaturity."

Instead of tennis shoes, try to wear loafers or boots.

Try to be neat without being anal about it. "You should never look sloppy," said the blonde, "but you should also try to avoid looking so put together that it makes you seem obsessive-compulsive."

The group of woman also agreed that you should display your individuality. If you own a shirt that only you love, you should go ahead and wear it, even if it is somewhat "uncool." As an example, a hawaiian shirt with a flamingo on it. Some guy who absolutely loves it will be able to wear that shirt.

So the bottom line is that a few guys can indeed pull off wearing tennis shoes.

Does this seem confusing? It isn't, once you realize that the test is simply this: Are you wearing clothes that work to display your core personality?

One woman explained it this way, "You ought to be comfortable with what you are wearing, and like what you are wearing, because women will pick up on this."

In other words, the style that's right for you comes down to personal preferences and your individual sense of style. There is no one all-encompassing rule for style, except just be your genuine self.

How To Become An Alpha Male
John Alexander, the author discussed in my How To Become An Alpha Male review, says that while most other dating books focus on WHAT to do to please the woman, the better approach is to concentrate instead on how to BECOME the man that women respond to.
